Hello
I am a self-taught videographer and producer with over 10 years of experience. My passion for video production has allowed me to create content on 3 continents, reaching millions of viewers and even innovating the art of the video podcast. As an award-winning artist, I take pride in my ability to handle every aspect of production, from pre to post, and approach every project with passion and dedication.
My Story
My family is full of camera enthusiasts. My grandfather collected well over 200 (I'm talking hoarding levels, they were shoved into every closet of the house) cameras and lenses it was a hyperfocus and his favorite subject to discuss. My dad filmed tons of home videos when I was a kid and my oldest brother majored in photography in college. Although I went to school for accounting, I loved taking photos of my friends and sorority sisters in college (with disposables!). in 2010, My husband bought me my first DSLR camera to take photos of our newborn son. I studied hours and hours learning how to work each function and took tens of thousands of photos that first year. I posted some of the best shots on Facebook, just to show people my kid, and people began asking me to take professional photos of their family. When my son turned a year old, I made a collage of videos I had taken of him that year to celebrate. While the editing process was new to me, I enjoyed the feeling of finishing a creative project and wanted to learn more about videography and began to obsessively take my camera everywhere with me. I started volunteering my time to my network of family and friends filming family events, school projects, social media promos, etc. to hone my craft and spent as much time as I could with my film-school friends to learn techniques, which is how I began producing, because I was willing to help out in any way that I could to be in that environment.
I started volunteering my time to preproduce, line produce, trying my hand at editing projects for people who couldn't find editors they could afford or trust, to even offering help on set design, brand management, music supervision, casting, scripting - anything that needed special attention. I found a true passion for myself and despite not going to film school, which made me insecure, I found that artistic expression was rewarding enough to fulfill my motivation to keep working on what I felt was still a hobby, despite the signs that this could be a thriving career.
While I worked as an accountant and moonlit as a producer for 10 years, I managed to almost match my salaried income which gave me the confidence to take on production full-time. This allowed me to have the time to learn even more skills, such as video graphics using After Effects (something I find many of my editor friends avoid like the plague) and sound engineering using Audition and AI software.
My production and videography style is characterized by great attention to detail, intimate and emotional moments, a fly-on-the-wall approach, authenticity, and beauty because my foundation for production is built on love and not income. I never want to miss a moment, and I want people to see what I see, and feel what I feel. This is why my brand is called Amanda Scott TV, with an emphasis on the TV because what you see in my work is how I experience what I'm called to do, and I love showing people how beautiful they are.
I want to do this forever.
